Complaint leads to unrelated arrest in Knox County



Flat Lick, KY - The Knox County Sheriff's Department is reporting that: On December 8, 2016 at approximately 8:00 am Knox County Deputy Keith Liford responded to a complaint of an intoxicated man walking on KY 718 in Flat Lick.

When Deputy Liford arrived at the location, he observed a man talking to another man in a stopped vehicle.

While Deputy Liford was checking for active warrants on the two men, he noticed the driver of the vehicle, William Collins, moving around inside the vehicle and put something in the console. Deputy Liford located a syringe loaded with suspected methamphetamine and several different types of pills inside the vehicle.

Deputy Liford arrested William N. Collins age 25 of Flat Lick, KY charging him with Driving on DUI Suspended License, Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree, Prescription Drug not in Original Container and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Collins was also wanted on a Knox County Bench Warrant for failure to appear on No Operators License and Contempt of Court charges.

William Collins was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On December 9, 2016 Deputy Liford executed a search warrant on the vehicle belonging to William Collins and located a small bag containing suspected methamphetamine.

Deputy Liford then charged William Collins with Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
