Two arrested following a Traffic Stop on Highway 421 / Clay County

Clay County, Ky. - Sheriff Patrick Robinson is reporting that: Clay County Sheriff Deputy Tommy Houston arrested two individuals off South Highway 421 on February 1, 2019 at approximately 9:30 PM.

The arrests occurred on South Highway 421 when Deputy Houston made a traffic stop on a brown Ford pickup truck for vehicle infractions.

Upon contact with the driver of the vehicle it was determined that he showed signs of impairment. Deputy Houston conducted field sobriety test in which the driver failed the test that was given to him. Also, arrested at the scene was the passenger of the vehicle.

Arrested was:

The driver, Ronald Jackson age 49 of Melrose Road and the passenger of the vehicle Brandi Smith age 28 of Mudlick.

Ronald Jackson was charged with:

  • Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Drugs/Alc/Etc. .08 1st Offense
  • Operating on suspended or revoked operator license
  • Failure of non-owner Operator to maintain required insurance 1st
  • No registration plates
  • Brandi Smith was charged with:

  • Serving Bench Warrant for Court
  • Possession of Controlled Substance 2nd Degree-Drug Unspecified
  • Possession of Controlled Substance
  • Drug Paraphernalia Buy/Possess
  • Prescription Controlled Substance not in Proper Container
