MANCHESTER, KY - The Manchester Police Department is reporting that: On Sunday July 7, 2019. Lt. Jason Combs received a compliment in reference to a theft that had taken place through the A.M. hours on Owens Road.
Jason Hughes reported that someone had unlawfully taken work tools from his property (Clay Pipe Line truck).
Mr. Hughes stated that the items were:
- 3/4” drive socket set
- Gearhead 150 piece socket set
- Tap and die set
- Alarge heavy duty grinder
Lt. Combs and Chief Chris Fultz, spent the morning on Monday reviewing video footage. Upon reviewing video footage, Lt. Combs identified the suspect to be Travis Lovins.
Lt. Combs then retrieved a warrant on Mr. Lovins and began pursuing the suspect during the day to no avail. Lt. Combs passed the info on to Sgt. Taye Napier.
During shift change, Sgt. Napier with the help of officer Jeff Couch located the suspect later that evening.
The suspect was arrested without incident and the search for the tools continued.
Sgt. Taye Napier with the assistance of Officer Chris Curry, spoke with people in the community and searched the river bank.
Interviews, searches and speaking with the community led to the return of nearly all Mr. Hughes property.
Mr. Travis Lovins age 23 is currently under investigation in reference to a church burglary as well as other burglaries that have taken place in and around Manchester.
