Alleged Home Burglary Suspect Leaves Personal Items Behind

Laurel County, Ky. (Sept. 28, 2019) -  Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Sgt. John Inman along with Deputy Shannon Jones and CSO Judy Morgan are investigating the burglary of an occupied residence off Barbourville Road, approximately 2 miles South of London which occurred early Saturday morning September 28, 2019 at approximately 3:08 AM.

When deputies arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation, they learned that apparently a lone male suspect had gained entry to the residence not his own and was found by the home owner who heard noises in his kitchen and awakened to find a male subject in his kitchen making 2 mayonnaise sandwiches.

The home owner did not know the suspect and described him as:

  • A white male
  • Approximately 6 foot
  • Approximately 220 pounds

The suspect then told the homeowner that if he left the residence would he (the home owner) clean up the mess. The male suspect then went to the garage and left the residence.

Deputies found items left behind from the suspect including:

  • A coffee mug
  • Bar piercing
  • Gold chain
  • Lighter
  • Money (change)
  • Wallet with ID

The suspect left the scene before deputies arrived and was not located in the area.

Deputies will utilize this information to obtain an arrest warrant for the suspect, who will be identified at that time.

The investigation is continuing.
