Complaint regarding a child results in Criminal Abuse arrests

Laurel County, Ky. (October 2, 2019) - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff Detective Sgt. Chris Edwards along with Sgt. John Inman, Sgt. Brett Reeves, and Deputy Keith Dinsmore arrested two individuals on Tuesday afternoon October 1, 2019 at approximately 1:02 PM.

The arrests occurred at Corbin Manor Apartments approximately 8 miles South of London after deputies were dispatched to a complaint of a small child located walking around the apartment complex with no adult supervision.

Through investigation Sheriff's officials determined that the two adults in charge of caring for the child were asleep when the child left the residence.

The two arrested individuals were identified as:

Tabitha M. Thompson age 39 of Engineer St., Corbin charged with:


  • Criminal abuse – third-degree

Tristan D. Woods age 22 of Twin Branch Rd., London charged with:

  • Criminal abuse – third-degree

These two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Social Services was notified to take custody of the child.
