Man flees Clay County Sheriff despite being tazed 2 times

Clay County, Ky. (October 28, 2019) - The Clay County Sheriff's Office is reporting that: On Monday, October 28, 2019 at approximately 11:20 AM Clay County Sheriff Patrick Robinson arrested David Griffie, 28 of South Highway 421.

The arrest occurred when Sheriff Robinson responded to a Domestic Assault between a father and son on South Highway 421.

Sheriff Robinson located the victim, during the investigation Sheriff Robinson observed the above mentioned subject approaching him in an aggressive manner with his fist clinched.

Sheriff Robinson gave verbal commands for the subject to stop, at which time the subject charged Sheriff Robinson. Sheriff Robinson deployed his taser at which time was ineffective, the subject pulled the prongs out of his body then proceeded to flee from Sheriff Robinson.

While Sheriff Robinson gave chase, the individual picked up a piece of a concrete block and attempted to hit Sheriff Robinson with it, Sheriff Robinson deployed a second taser that was also ineffective.

The subject then ran through a creek with attempt to get away, Sheriff Robinson was able to locate the subject who then resisted arrest.

After a brief struggle the subject was placed under arrest without further incident. 

David Griffie was charged with:

• Resisting Arrest
• Menacing
• Fleeing or Evading Police, 2nd Degree (On Foot)
• Assault, 4th Degree
• Serving Bench Warrant For Court
