Two individuals wanted by multiple agencies arrested in Clay County

Manchester, Ky. (November 16, 2019) - The Clay County Sheriff's Office is reporting that: On November 15, 2019 Clay County Sheriff Patrick Robinson became aware of two individuals that had scammed multiple businesses within South Eastern Kentucky. Sheriff Robinson and other units conducted surveillance on the fugitive once a location was received of the subject wanting to meet a Perry County business inside Clay County.

Once the investigation and surveillance was complete two individuals were arrested without incident on South Highway 421.

The subjects were wanted out of Bell, Laurel and Whitley County.

Bennie King, 46 of LaFollette, Tennessee was charged with:

• Theft By Deception- Cold Checks
• Theft by Deception- Cold Checks
• Theft by Deception- Cold Checks
• Persistent Felony Offender
• Forgery, 1st Degree
• Possession of Forged Instrument 1st Degree

Shayla King, 23 of LaFollette, Tennessee was charged with:

• Failure to Appear
• Failure to Appear
• Criminal Possession of Forged Instrument 1st Degree

Assisting in the case was Sheriff Sgt. Jeremy Gabbard, CSO Supervisor Dewey Grubb, Deputy Cody Blackwell, Deputy Wes Brumley, Manchester City Police Chief Chris Fultz and K9 Officer Ryan Jackson. Sheriff Robinson is in charge of the investigation.
