Forgery charge during stolen bicycle investigation / Clay County

Clay County, Ky. (November 20, 2019) - Sheriff Patrick Robinson is reporting that on November 20, 2019 at approximately 10:00 AM Clay County Chief Deputy Clifton Jones along with CSO Supervisor Dewey Grubb arrested Curtis Hatfield, 43 of Horse Creek.

The arrest occurred when Chief Deputy Jones received a complaint of a male riding a possible stolen bicycle on Highway 80.

Upon contact with the individual, Chief Deputy Jones conducted an investigation that determined that the bicycle was in fact stolen prior to this date.

Through confirmation with Clay County Dispatch it was confirmed the subject had an active Clay County Indictment Warrant.

During the search of the subject, Chief Deputy Jones located a stolen check belonging to the Clay County Board of Education with a forged signature on it.

Curtis Hatfield was charged with:

• Serving Bench Warrant for Court
• Theft by Unlawful Taking/Disp Bicycle
• Theft of Mail Matter
• Forgery 2nd Degree
