Two vehicle Fatal / Serious Injury Crash in Laurel County with UPDATE

Laurel County, Ky. (November 23, 2019) - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Major Chuck Johnson is investigating a two vehicle fatal traffic crash which occurred on US 25 approximately 1 mile South of London on Saturday afternoon November 23, 2019 at approximately 2:41 PM.

The investigating deputy reports that apparently a car traveling southbound on US 25 when it lost control on the wet roadway surface and slid around backwards and struck a northbound SUV in the front end..

The driver of the car and three occupants in the SUV were transported to St. Joseph Hospital London for treatment of serious injuries. The driver of the car was pronounced deceased a short time later at St. Joseph Hospital London.

More information will be released after next of kin have been notified.

Assisting at the scene of the crash was:

For Laurel Sheriff's office - Deputy Brent France, Deputy Allen Turner, Deputy Jamie Etherton, and Deputy James Fox.

Also assisting at the scene was Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, London Laurel Rescue Squad, Lily Volunteer Fire Department.

Also assisting on the investigation was the Laurel County Coroner's office.

UPDATE:

The driver of the silver Ford car was identified as: 

  • Cheryl McCracken age 52 of London-- pronounced deceased at St. Joseph Hospital London.

The driver of the gray colored Jeep liberty was identified as: 

  • Dorsey J. King II age 48 of Corbin – Treated at St. Joseph Hospital London for injuries.

A female adult passenger was also in the vehicle and a child both who were treated for possible injuries at St. Joseph Hospital London.

Investigation is continuing by Laurel Sheriff's Maj. Chuck Johnson.
