FRANKFORT, KY (December 13, 2019) - I am obviously very troubled and disappointed by the information we are receiving about the pardons issued by Governor Bevin in his last hours in office.
While the Constitution gives this authority to governors, they also have a responsibility to use that power properly. They must make good decisions that are in the best interest of our state.
This sends a terrible message to the victims, their families and our law enforcement community.
After conferring with my colleagues in the House, I believe we will be giving this issue some consideration in the days to come.
