LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's K-9 Deputy Gary Mehler along with Sgt. John Inman arrested Ricky E. Collett age 49 of Corbin on Tuesday night January 21, 2020 at approximately 10:30 PM.
The arrest occurred at Walmart near Corbin in southern Laurel County after Walmart's loss prevention team allegedly observed an individual remove his shoes and put on new ones he had taken there.
In addition, this subject was observed opening packages in the store and concealing the items in his pockets.
When deputies arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation, they recovered tools and cosmetic items from his pockets. Total value of the theft including the shoes was $128.42.
This subject stated he was going to pay for the items however deputies noted he only had five dollars in his possession.
Ricky E. Collett was charged with:
- Theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting under $500
This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
