LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Tommy Houston along with Sgt. John Inman, Deputy James Fox, and Deputy Taylor arrested four individuals off North Laurel Rd. approximately 1 mile north of London early Saturday morning March 14, 2020 at approximately 4:43 AM in a business parking lot while investigating a complaint of possible drug activity.
The arrests occurred when they located a suspicious vehicle – a green colored Suzuki Sidekick.
An investigation was conducted on the driver who was determined to be under the influence and stated he had smoked Marijuana and used Methamphetamine earlier. In addition, 3 passengers were found with outstanding warrants. The three arrested individuals were identified as:
The driver - Zachary R. Cotton age 20 of London charged with:
- Operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense
- No operator's license
- Failure to wear seatbelts
- Failure of nonowner operator to maintain required insurance – first offense
- Other violations.
Passenger - Irvin Johnson age 34 of London charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging:
- Failure to appear in court regarding charges of possession of a controlled substance – first offense – second-degree
- Tampering with physical evidence
- Failure to wear seatbelts
Passenger - Jordan C. Wilder age 22 of London charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging:
- Failure to appear in court on charges of giving officer false identifying information
- No registration plates
- Operating the vehicle with expired operator’s license
- Other violations
In addition this subject was charged on a second Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging:
- Failure to appear in court on charges of obstructed vision or wind shield
- Driving on DUI suspended license – first offense
Passenger - Christopher Vaughn age 37 of London was charged on;
- A Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear for arraignment
