LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Tommy Houston along with Deputy Justin Taylor arrested two individuals early Monday morning April 20, 2020 at approximately 1:00 AM.
The arrests occurred off East Pittsburgh Church Road, approximately 3 miles north of London after deputies were dispatched to a disturbance complaint there.
Upon arrival at the scene, deputies located a black Chevrolet Suburban backing onto the roadway and nearly striking Deputy Houston's police cruiser.
An investigation was conducted on the driver and passenger of the vehicle and both were determined to be under the influence. In addition, deputies noted open containers of alcoholic beverages in the vehicle.
It was learned that the driver was wanted on an outstanding warrant.
During arrest the two individuals pulled away from investigators but were both taken into custody.
Arrested was:
Armando Hernandez age 22 of Springfield, Tennessee charged with:
- Operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense
- Disorderly conduct – second-degree
- Menacing
- Possession of open alcoholic beverage container in motor vehicle prohibited
- Resisting arrest
In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging-Failure to appear in court on charges of:
- Failure of non-owner operator to maintain required insurance
- No operator's license
- Speeding more than 10 mph over the limit
- Failure to produce insurance card
Mario P. Hernandez age 28 of Springfield, Tennessee charged with:
- Alcohol intoxication in a public place
- Disorderly conduct – second-degree
- Menacing
- Resisting arrest
These two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
