LONDON, KY (October 13, 2020) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Brent France along with Sgt. Greg Poynter arrested Gregory Lee Bateman age 34 of Lily on Monday afternoon October 12, 2020 at approximately 3:22 PM.
The arrest occurred off Robinson Creek Road after deputies were dispatched to a single vehicle traffic crash there.
Upon arrival at the scene deputies learned that apparently a tan colored Chevrolet Silverado had ran off the road and hit a tree.
Deputies conducted an investigation at the scene where they noted detecting a strong odor of alcoholic beverages emitting from the driver who was determined through investigation to be under the influence.
Upon arrest this individual became irate and began cursing and yelling and attempting to pull away from deputies while being walked to the police cruiser.
Gregory Lee Bateman was charged with:
- Operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense
- Failure to produce insurance card
- Resisting arrest
This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional center.
