Trafficking Arrests / Large Quantity of Suspected Methamphetamine Found in Suspect's Mouth during Drug Investigation in Southern Kentucky

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel sheriff’s Deputy Tommy Houston along with Deputy Justin Taylor, Deputy Landry Collett, Detective James Sizemore, and shift Sgt. John Inman arrested two individuals on Wednesday morning November 4, 2020 at approximately 6:00 AM.

The arrests occurred off West Cumberland Gap Parkway in a business parking lot approximately 10 miles South of London while deputies were conducting a drug investigation there when they encountered a suspicious vehicle, a black Hyundai Venue, and found two individuals in possession of:

  • A large amount of Methamphetamine
  • Scales
  • Baggies

Deputies noted that the male subject there later identified as Billy Reid attempted to turn and run from deputies and upon being detained was found with a large quantity of suspected methamphetamine in his mouth.

The two arrested individuals were identified as:

Billy Reid, Jr. age 43 of Little Current Trail, Corbin, Ky. charged with:

  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – third-degree – first offense
  • Tampering with physical evidence
  • Possession of Drug paraphernalia
  • Operating on suspended or revoked operator's license

Whitney Tara Allen age 32 of West Short Street, Lexington, Ky. charged with:

  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine\
  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – third-degree – first offense
  • Possession of Drug paraphernalia

These two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
