LEXINGTON, KY - The Lexington Police Department has charged a man with murder in the death of a man who was shot outside Fayette Mall.
Jessin Stateman, 19, was arrested late Thursday night
At around 8:00 P.M. Thursday, November 5, 2020 officers responded to the parking lot of Fayette Mall for a person suffering a gunshot wound. The victim, a 23-year-old man identified as Jermaine Barber was transported to a hospital where he later succumbed to his injury and died.
The investigation found that Stateman and the victim were acquaintances who had agreed to meet outside the mall. During the course of the meeting, a disorder ensued and Stateman shot the victim.
Stateman was located in a nearby parking lot and taken into custody without incident.
Stateman is lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center.
