MANCHESTER, KY - Clay County Sheriff Patrick Robinson is reporting that on February 28, 2021 at approximately 10:00 PM Clay County Sheriff Sgt. Jeremy Gabbard arrested Dennis Smith, 57 of Morgan Branch Road.

The arrest occurred off of Morgan Branch Road when the above mentioned subject called Clay County 911 to report that his child had been swept away by flood waters which resulted in an active search and rescue.

Through investigation it was determined the above mentioned subject was manifestly under the influence and the child was safe with a family member.

Dennis Smith was charged with:

• Falsely Reporting Incident
• Public Intoxication of a Controlled Substance (Excludes Alcohol)
• Wanton Endangerment-2nd Degree

This individual was lodged in the Clay County Detention Center.
