Man that Fled Police on US 25 found with Methamphetamine after Stopping on Fire Station Road in Laurel County, Kentucky

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Tommy Houston arrested Jerry Danny Wayne Wright age 22 of London early Monday morning June 14, 2021 at approximately 2:54 AM.

The arrest occurred off Fire Station Road at a trailer park nearby after Deputy Houston attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a blue Honda SUV that pulled out of a service station parking lot off US 25 about 2 miles north of London after observing a police cruiser and sped away at a high rate of speed.

Deputy Houston activated his emergency equipment attempting to get the vehicle to stop however it failed to stop traveling onto Fire Station Road and finally stopping there.

During the traffic stop the driver was determined to be under the influence. In addition, this individual was found in possession of suspected Methamphetamine.

Jerry Danny Wayne Wright was charged with:

  • Operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense
  • Fleeing or evading police – second-degree – motor vehicle
  • Reckless driving
  • Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
  • Wanton endangerment – second-degree – police officer is victim

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Assisting Deputy Houston at the scene was Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Hobie Daugherty, London City Police, and Kentucky State Police.
