RESIDENT OF CLAY COUNTY, KENTUCKY PRESENTED AWARD BY THE SOUTHERN KENTUCKY FILM COMMISSION

Stivers recognized for support of investments in local communities, business generated by production industry in Kentucky

FRANKFORT, KY – On Wednesday, July 28, 2021 the Southern Kentucky Film Commission honored Senate President Robert Stivers (R-Manchester) with the 2021 Friend of Film Award in recognition of his support of economic development initiatives, recruitment of and investments by the production industry across the Commonwealth.

Award Southern Kentucky Film Stivers 200The award symbolizes President Stivers’ role in restoring our industry and assuring investment in our local communities throughout Kentucky.

“Today’s award represents our appreciation for the 25th District’s own President Robert Stivers. He has demonstrated his willingness to defend the need for opportunities in our local communities and to enable our ability capitalize on investments from the production industry,” said Chair Coni Shepperd. “President Stivers has been an advocate for economic investment, tourism and job creation in his District and across the Commonwealth.”

Shepperd added, “The Commission is grateful to President Stivers for his leadership and guidance which has enabled our region to accomplish many goals and will hopefully be able to capture additional opportunities, create jobs and maintain continued growth.”

Upon accepting the award, President Stivers shared his thoughts on local investment and the need to assure outcomes are met. “I appreciate receiving this award, along with other members of our caucus,” Stivers said. “Investing in this industry has led to the creation of jobs and opportunity -- the benefits of which can be seen throughout southeast Kentucky. Continued support for film production will ensure its status as a significant employer here in the Commonwealth."
