Madison County Man attempting to conceal Hypodermic Syringe busted by Deputies in Laurel County, Kentucky

LONDON, KY (August 21, 2021) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Justin Taylor along with Deputy Landry Collett arrested Brian Hatcher age 37 of Marcellus Drive, Berea, KY early Friday morning August 20, 2021 at approximately 1:00 AM.

The arrest occurred in a business parking lot off West Cumberland Gap Parkway approximately 10 miles South of London after this subject was observed with a hypodermic syringe as he sat in a vehicle there.

Deputies then observed the individual attempted to conceal the item in his pants.

When asked to exit the vehicle, the subject refused and had to be removed from the vehicle.

Deputies then discovered a glass vile containing suspected Xanax.

Brian Hatcher was charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance – third-degree
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Prescription controlled substances not in proper container – first offense
  • Resisting arrest

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Assisting on the investigation were; Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Hobie Daugherty, Deputy James Sizemore, and shift Sgt. John Inman.

Laurel County Sheriff John Root stated that drug arrests will continue in Laurel County.
