LONDON, KY (September 14, 2021) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's traffic crash Reconstructionist Deputy Brad Mink along with traffic crash Reconstructionist Detective Richard Dalrymple are investigating a traffic fatality involving three vehicles which occurred on US 25 approximately 6 miles South of London on Tuesday morning September 14, 2021 at approximately 10:36 AM.
Sheriff's investigators report that apparently a silver colored trailblazer traveling southbound on US 25 crossed over into the northbound lane side-swipping a red colored Ford van that was northbound.
The trailblazer then continued in the northbound lane striking a white colored Chevrolet Tahoe head-on.
The vehicles came to rest blocking northbound US 25.
The roadway was shut down for three hours while Sheriff's investigators gathered information for their reconstruction of the crash site. A total of four persons were airlifted from the scene to UK Medical Center in Lexington with serious injuries.
- The driver of the trailblazer, identified as Danielle M. Kelly age 36 of Corbin was airlifted to UK Medical Center with serious injuries.
The adult passenger, Tiffany J. Smith age 44 of London was transported by Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County to St. Joseph Hospital London and pronounced deceased a short time later.
In addition, another passenger, a one-year-old female child was airlifted to UK Medical Center with serious injuries
- The driver of the of the red colored Ford van, identified as Cecil Price age 65 of Barbourville was uninjured.
- The driver of the white colored Chevrolet Tahoe, identified as Shawn Pridemore age 31 of Corbin was airlifted to UK Medical Center with serious injuries.
The passenger identified as Jacolby Lawrence age 42 of Corbin was airlifted to UK Medical Center with serious injuries.
Assisting at the scene for the Laurel County Sheriff's office were: Laurel Sheriff's shift Sgt. Brett Reeves, Deputy Brent France, Deputy Hunter Disney.
Assisting agencies included: Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, Lily Volunteer Fire department, London Laurel Rescue Squad, Laurel County Department of Public Safety, Laurel County Coroner’s Office, and Kentucky State Highway department.
Also assisting were: PHI Helicopter, Air Evac, and Air Methods Kentucky 3.
The investigation is continuing by Laurel Sheriff's traffic crash reconstructionists.
