KENTUCKY SECRETARY OF STATE ADAMS ANNOUNCES WINNERS OF 2024-2025 ESSAY CONTEST

Essays Addresses Civic Knowledge

LEXINGTON, KY – Secretary of State Michael Adams is pleased to announce the winners of his Office’s 2024-2025 Essay Contest.

The contest was open to all high school students in Kentucky. The participants were asked to answer the question, “What can Kentuckians do to ensure that voters are well informed on policies and candidates?” 

The winners are:

  • 9th grader Ava June Tackett of Johnson Central High School in Johnson County
  • 10th grader Jack Gill of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Fayette County
  • 11th grader Karsten Ingalls of Hardin County
  • 12th grader Varshitha Ramesh of Western Hills High School in Franklin County

Gill and Ramesh won last year as 9th and 11th graders, respectively. Ingalls won the essay contest last year as a 10th grader and in 2023 as a 9th grader.

Adams presented the awards to the winners during halftime at the KHSAA Sweet 16 tournament.
