META, KY – Kentucky State Police Pikeville Post received a 911 call regarding a two-vehicle fatal collision in Pike County at approximately 8:15 P.M. on Tuesday, September 28, 2021.
The collision occurred on the State Highway 194 exit from US 119 in the Meta community of Pike County.
Upon arrival and through investigation, troopers discovered 31-year-old Vergena Fields of Phelps was operating a 2019 Jeep Renegade onto US 119 from State Highway 194 E when her vehicle collided with the rear of a 2011 Freightliner commercial vehicle being operated by 56-year-old Talal Bilal of Florida.
Vergena Fields and her mother, 60-year-old Dottie Fields, were both pronounced deceased on scene by the Pike County Coroner’s Office.
The investigation is ongoing by KSP Accident Reconstructionist, Trooper Josh Scott.
Trooper Scott was assisted on scene by Kentucky State Police Post 9 personnel, Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement officers, Kimper Volunteer Fire Department, Coal Run Volunteer Fire Department and Lifeguard Ambulance Service.
