Two Arrests and Seizure of Narcotics and Cash during a Related Drug Investigation in Laurel County, Kentucky

LONDON, KY (November 9, 2021 ) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Detective Allen Turner, Deputy Justin Taylor, K-9 Deputy Jake Miller and his K-9 “Maverick” along with other Sheriff's detectives, and deputies with assistance from a KSP Detective arrested two individuals on a related drug investigation at two locations in Laurel County seizing a large amount of Meth, a large amount of Heroin, Xanax bars, Cocaine, Fentanyl, and a large sum of US currency.

The first arrest occurred on Rockcastle River Forestry Road approximately 10 miles north of London following a traffic stop conducted on a black BMW X5 driven by Anthony Gerald age 26 of Barry Court, Richmond, KY.  Sheriff's investigators found approximately 1.5 pounds of Meth, 70 grams of Heroin, Xanax bars, Cocaine, Fentanyl and US currency.

The second arrest occurred at a business parking lot off West Hal Rogers Parkway in London following a traffic stop conducted on a black colored Cadillac CTS.

During the stop investigators detected a strong odor of Marijuana emitting from the vehicle.

The occupant in the vehicle was identified as: Rachel Vanorden age 26 of Johnson Road, London, KY.

Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Jake Miller deployed his K-9 “Maverick” which alerted to the presence of Narcotics.

Investigators found a large amount of suspected Methamphetamine, digital scales, Marijuana and US currency.

Anthony Gerald was charged with:

  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – first offense – Fentanyl derivatives
  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – first offense – Heroin
  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Cocaine

Rachel Vanorden was charged with:

  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
  • Trafficking in Marijuana – first offense
  • Possession of Drug paraphernalia

These two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Assisting on the investigation were for the Laurel County Sheriff's office: Lt. Chris Edwards, Detective Sgt. Richard Dalrymple, Deputy Landry Collett, Deputy Brian France, Deputy Jake Miller and his K-9 “Maverick”. Case officers are: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Justin Taylor and Detective Allen Turner.

Also assisting on the investigation and arrest was Kentucky State Police Detective Ben Graves.

Laurel County Sheriff John Root stated that drug investigations and arrests will continue in Laurel County.
