Heroin Arrest during Shoplifting Investigation in Laurel County Kentucky

LONDON, KY (November 26, 2021) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Jamie Etherton along with shift Sgt. John Inman and Deputy Tommy Houston arrested Erica Sue Mullis age 31 of West 1st St., Corbin, KY on Friday morning November 26, 2021 at approximately 8:50 AM.

The arrest occurred at Walmart near Corbin in southern Laurel County after Walmart's loss prevention team detained this subject.

When deputies arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation they learned that allegedly this individual had been observed concealing items and under ringing items at checkout.

Total value of the theft was $511.53.

In addition, upon arrest this individual was found in possession of suspected Heroin, and suspected Xanax.

The Xanax tablets were not in a proper container.

Erica Sue Mullis was charged with:

  • Theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting – $500 or more but under $1000
  • Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Heroin
  • Possession of a controlled substance – second-degree
  • Prescription controlled substances not in proper container – first offense

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
