Will Help Lead National Voter Registration Efforts
Michael Adams
FRANKFORT, KY – Secretary of State Michael Adams has been selected to serve on the National Voter Registration Day Steering Committee.
“Too many prospective voters are not having their voices heard, and that weakens our democracy,” said Adams. “The pandemic has caused voter registration to flatline. I’m honored to join National Voter Registration Day’s efforts to boost participation.”
Adams, along with Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon, will provide guidance to the bipartisan committee as they prepare for National Voter Registration Day in September.
“We are pleased to have Secretary Adams’ support as we gear up for this year’s holiday,” said Debi Lombardi, Program Director of National Voter Registration Day. “It takes the collective effort of many, including elected officials, corporate partners, community organizations, and volunteers from across the nation, to make this effort a success.”
National Voter Registration Day is a nonpartisan civic holiday to encourage voter registration. National Voter Registration Day brings together volunteers and organizations from across the country to register voters who may not register otherwise. Since its inception in 2012, nearly 4.5 million people registered to vote on National Voter Registration Day.
“With National Voter Registration Day 2022 marking the 10th anniversary of our annual celebration of democracy, we’re thrilled Secretary Adams could join us as we jump headfirst into the next decade of our mission to register every eligible American to vote,” Lombardi added.
National Voter Registration Day is September 20, 2022.
