Cocaine, Vehicle and US Currency Seized after Kentucky State Police K9 Deployed for a Free Air Sniff at Traffic Stop

Carroll County, KY – On Wednesday March 23, 2022 at approximately 9:55 A.M. Kentucky State Police DESI West, Kentucky State Police Post 5 and Kentucky State Police Special Operations (K9) conducted a traffic stop on a 2013 Ford Fusion near the 43 mile marker of Interstate 71 in Carroll County.

The operator of the vehicle, Marlon Vasquez, had three active indictment warrants for Trafficking in Controlled Substance Cocaine.

A Kentucky State Police K9 was deployed for a free air sniff.  The K9 alerted its handler to the presence of narcotic odor.

 A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in locating approximately 19 grams of Cocaine.  The vehicle and US Currency were also seized.

Marlon Vasquez was arrested and charged with:

  • Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense Cocaine

Mr. Vasquez was lodged in the Carroll County Detention Center.

The investigation is ongoing and being conducted by Kentucky State Police DESI West.
