FREE Programs in May 2022 for Clay County, Kentucky from the Cooperative Extension Service

MANCHESTER, KY (May 4, 2022) - Clay County Cooperative Extension Service - FREE upcoming programs for May, 2022.

♦Join the 4-H Cooking Club on May 10th at 4:00 PM as we make a recipe for dinner! Our meeting will take place at the Clay County Extension Office. Free & open to youth ages 8-18. You must call to register at 598-2789.

♦Clay County Cattlemen’s Association will meet on May 10th at 6 PM at the EXCEL building. You must call 598-2789 to register.

♦Grow Appalachia is partnering with the University of Kentucky to host a workshop on Fertigation for High Tunnels and Small Plot Production. May 16th via ZOOM 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
Register at: https://bit.ly/fertigation_workshop. Dr. Rachel Rudolph, Extension Vegetable Specialist, will partner with Grow Appalachia's Farmer Development Team to discuss small-scale fertigation.

Topics include:

• Setting up the system & calibration
• Soluble fertilizers
• Fertility programs for crops

♦Clay County KY Beekeepers Association’s next meeting will be on May 19th at 6:00 PM at the EXCEL building beside McDonald’s. Guest speaker will be Theresa J. Martin and her presentation will be “Dead bees don’t make honey”. Spread the word and come join us!

♦Our 4-H Family Painting Event is scheduled for May 23rd at 4:00 PM at EXCEL building beside McDonalds. Free and open to youth ages 8-18. Parent/guardian + child can paint together. You must call 598-2789 to register!

♦Woodland Owner Meeting will be May 24th at 5:30 PM at the Clay County Extension Office. NRCS will be our guests and featured speakers for the evening. They’ll cover forest management best practices and available cost-share opportunities. Free and open to the public. Open to anyone from any county! Please call 606-598-2789 to register.

♦Our 4-H Art Club Meeting will be May 25th at 3PM at the Clay County Extension Office. Each month we will focus on a new art project! Free & open to youth 8-18. Call to register at 598-2789.

♦Mark your calendars for May 31st at 4PM for the next Rabbit Club Meeting! You do not have to own a rabbit to join. You must call to register. This club is free and open all youth ages 8-18. You must call 598-2789 to register.
