SOMERSET, KY - Pulaski County Sheriff Bobby Jones is reporting that on Thursday, April 20, 2023, two Pulaski County men were arrested following a traffic stop.
The investigation began in the early morning hours, when the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division and Lake Cumberland Area Drug Task Force were in the 461 area of Pulaski County conducting interdiction surveillance.
Detective Tan Hudson observed a white Ford passenger car traveling south on Highway 461, at a high rate of speed, through the construction zone.
Detective Hudson was able to catch up to the vehicle and conduct a traffic stop on Barnesburg Road.
Detective Lieutenant Daryl Kegley, Detective Trent Massey, and an agent with the Lake Cumberland Area Drug Task Force were quick to arrive on the stop.
Detectives became suspicious of the two occupants of the vehicle, which led Detective Massey to deploy his K-9 "Leo" to conduct a free air sniff of the vehicle. Following the walk around, Detectives conducted a search of the vehicle and the occupants.
Upon conducting a search of the vehicle, Detectives located a black garbage bag in the passenger floorboard containing two large zip lock baggies of suspected Methamphetamine.
Detectives searched the occupants of the vehicle and when searching the passenger, Gerald Bruner, age 51, of Somerset, located a bag containing suspected Methamphetamine.
Detectives then searched the driver of the vehicle, Jimmie Hafley, age 52, of Somerset. During a search of Hafley, Detectives located a baggie of suspected Methamphetamine.
Following the search of the vehicle, both men were taken into custody and transported to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office for processing, along with the evidence from the case.

The total approximated weight of the seized Methamphetamine was 796.7 grams.
Jimmie Hafley was charged with:
1. Speeding 25 MPH Over
2. Careless Driving
3. Failure to or Improper Signal
4. Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense (> 2 grams of Methamphetamine)
Gerald Bruner was charged with:
1.Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense (> 2 grams of Methamphetamine)
2. Drug Paraphernalia – Buy/Possess
Both subjects were transported to and lodged at the Pulaski County Detention Center.

The case remains under investigation by Detective Tan Hudson of the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division. The Pulaski County Narcotics Division was assisted in the investigation by the Lake Cumberland Area Drug Task Force and Deputy Noah Wesley.
