RAVENNA, KY(June 5, 2023) – The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post, was contacted just before 9:00 p.m. Sunday, June 4, 2023, in reference to a shooting that occurred outside of a residence on Furnace Junction Road in Estill County.
The initial investigation indicates David Moreland, 64 years old, of Ravenna, and Jesse A. Wise, 59 years old, of Ravenna, were in a physical altercation outside of a residence on Furnace Junction Road in Estill County. During the altercation, it is alleged Wise discharged a firearm striking Moreland. David Moreland was transported by ambulance to Marcum And Wallace Hospital and airlifted to the University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Hospital with critical injuries.
As a result of the preliminary investigation, Jesse Wise was located and taken into custody. He has been lodged at the Estill County Detention Center and charged with Assault 1st Degree and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
The ongoing investigation is being conducted by KSP Post 7 Detective Anthony Bowling. He was assisted at the scene by KSP Personnel, Estill County Sheriff’s Office, and Estill County EMS.
