MAYSVILLE, KY – The Kentucky State Police is reporting that on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at approximately 6:53 PM, KSP Post 8, Morehead, received a call from Mason County Dispatch for assistance with a two vehicle head on collision. The collision occurred in the Dover Community of Mason County near the intersection of KY 3972 and KY 435.
Through the course of the investigation, it was determined George L. Gallenstein, 59 years of age from Augusta, Ky was traveling north on KY 435 operating a 2007 Jeep. Sonia Phillips, 28 years of age from Germantown, Ky was traveling south on KY 435 operating a 2017 passenger car.
Mr. Gallenstein and Ms. Phillips were air lifted to the University of Kentucky Hospital for treatment of their injuries. Ms. Phillips passenger, Brian Jett, 36 years of age from Germantown, Ky was air lifted to Meadowview Hospital for treatment of his injuries. Brian Jett was pronounced deceased by medical staff with Meadowview Hospital.
Kentucky State Police was assisted by Mason County Sheriff’s Office and Mason County EMS.
This collision remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police, Morehead.
