WATTS, KY – On Thursday, December 14, 2023, at approximately 5:48 P.M, Kentucky State Police, Post 13, Hazard, received a call in reference to a two-vehicle collision on KY-15 in the Watts community of Breathitt County.
Troopers, along with medical personnel responded to the scene.
The preliminary investigation indicates that, Austin Gibson, 27, of Georgetown, was operating a silver Nissan Altima traveling north bound on KY-15 when he crossed the center line into the south bound lane, colliding with a black Dodge ram traveling south bound being operated by Robert Begley, 78, of Jackson.
Gibson was pronounced deceased on scene by the Breathitt County Coroners Office.
Begley was transported to Kentucky River Medical Center where he succumbed to injuries sustained in the collision.
This incident remains under investigation and is being reconstructed by Trooper Jarret Fields.
