ATTEMPTED MURDER ARREST / FLEMING COUNTY EMS TRANSPORTS SHERIFF'S DEPUTY TO UK HOSPITAL AFTER KNIFE ATTACK BY A WALLINGFORD, KENTUCKY MAN

FLEMINGSBURG, KY - Fleming County Sheriff's Office is reporting that: On Saturday morning July 13th, 2024, Sheriff Tim Smith charged Billy J. Hall of Wilson Run Road, Wallingford, KY with Attempted Murder of a Police Officer.

Fleming County Sheriff's Deputy Cooper responded to Hall’s residence and was assisting the Fleming County EMS with a medical issue.

Billy  Hall was transported to the Fleming County Hospital by ambulance for a medical issue.

Upon arrival, Hall quickly exited the ambulance and attempted to make entry through the first set of bay doors at the hospital.

Hall, who was "unprovoked", turned around and attacked Deputy Cooper with a knife that he had concealed during the transport.

Deputy Cooper was able to quickly restrain Hall and provide first aid on himself, quickly applying his own tourniquet. The staff in the Emergency Room and Fleming County EMS immediately began giving aid to Deputy Cooper.

Officer Hicks of the Flemingsburg Police Department and Sheriff Smith arrived shortly after the incident. Deputy Cooper was transported to UK Hospital by Fleming County EMS.

Hall was cleared by the Fleming County Hospital and transported to the Mason County Detention Center.

Billy Hall, age 60, is charged with:

  • Attempted Murder of a Police Officer

At the time of this publishing, Billy J. Hall remains lodged in the Mason County Detention Center, held on a $250,000.00 CASH bond with a court date set for Thursday, August 1, 2024 at 10:00 AM.

Deputy Cooper has been released from the hospital.
