LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Daniel Reed along with Deputy Cyruss McVey arrested Shawna Smith, age 32 of Corbin on Friday night July 19, 2024 at approximately 11:23 PM.
The arrest occurred on American Greeting Card Road, approximately 10 miles South of London after deputies were dispatched by London – Laurel County 911 Communications Ctr. to a complaint of a possible domestic between two individuals.
Upon arrival in the vicinity of the complaint deputies located a female subject carrying a one-year-old child walking in the roadway.
Deputies noted there were no street lighting and that the suspect was wearing dark clothes and posed a danger walking in the roadway with the child. It was also determined she was allegedly involved in the earlier dispatched complaint.
An investigation was conducted and the suspect was determined to be under the influence.
Shawna Smith was charged with:
- Wanton endangerment – second-degree
- Public intoxication – controlled substances
This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
