WASHINGTON, DC -- On Thursday, July 29, 2021 the U.S. House of Representatives passed the bipartisan Veterans in Parks (VIP) Act. Congressman Hal Rogers (KY-05) cosponsored the bill, ensuring our active-duty servicemembers, veterans, and Gold Star families are treated like VIPs for the rest of their lives in America's national parks and public lands.
The VIP Act provides free lifetime passes into more than 2,000 federal recreation areas for our veterans and members of Gold Star Families, as well as free annual passes to current military service members.
"Our military service members, our veterans and Gold Star Families deserve so much more than we could ever fully repay. The VIP Act is a small token of our appreciation, ensuring that those who risked their lives for this country will never have to pay to visit our national parks and public lands," said Congressman Rogers. "Instead of annual passes, all veterans will now receive lifetime passes."
The America the Beautiful Pass provides access to more than 2,000 federal recreation areas, including our national parks, national forests, and wildlife refuges. This includes some of the country's most iconic treasures, ranging from the majestic Grand Canyon National Park to the awe-inspiring Redwood National Forest.
