MANCHESTER, KY - On New Year's Eve, December 31, 2024, Clay County Sheriff's Office units were dispatched to AdventHealth in Manchester following the report of a gunshot victim. The victim, Clarissa Wagers, arrived at the ER with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Upon arrival, Deputy Sgt. Wes Brumley interviewed Wagers, who stated that Amanda Roark had visited her home, leading to a verbal argument. During this altercation, a gunshot was heard, and Wagers was injured. Further investigation, including interviews with others present at the time, confirmed that Roark was the aggressor, having shot Wagers with a .25 caliber automatic handgun.

After leaving the hospital, deputies searched for Roark. Clay County Dispatch later received a call that Roark was on Coal Hollow Road and was willing to surrender. Deputies located and took her into custody there. Roark admitted to giving the gun to Michael Jones, and Deputy Dustin Henson subsequently recovered the firearm at a residence on Gold Leaf Road.

The suspect, Amanda Roark, age 27, of Manchester, KY was arrested and later transported to the Clay County Detention Center.
