MT. VERNON, KY - Kentucky State Police Trooper Scottie Pennington, Public Affairs Officer for KSP Post 11, London is reporting that on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, Trooper Brian Maupin responded to a disabled vehicle on Interstate-75 in Rockcastle County, KY which had run out of gas.
According to information from the report and jail, the driver identified as Reginald Barber, age 37, of Cincinnati, OH, who had been smoking marijuana, fled on foot after a brief altercation, but was subsequently captured and arrested.
With assistance from his K-9, Trooper Maupin located over 11 pounds of methamphetamine and a glass mason jar containing marijuana being transported in the vehicle.
The suspect in custody was later transported to the Rockcastle County Detention Center.
Reginald Barber was charged with:
- POSS OF MARIJUANA
- FLEEING OR EVADING POLICE, 3RD DEGREE
- RESISTING ARREST
- TRAFF IN CONT SUB, 1ST DEGREE, 1ST OFF - (> OR = 2 GMS METHAMPHETAMINE)
- DRUG PARAPHERNALIA - BUY/POSSESS
This individual was lodged in the Rockcastle County Detention Center.
