LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Matt Walker along with Deputy Joey Smith arrested Donnie Allen Smith, age 42, of Manchester on Monday evening February 17, 2025 at approximately 7:05 PM.
The arrest occurred in a business parking lot approximately 4 miles South of London after deputies were dispatched by London – Laurel County 911 Communication Ctr. to a complaint of a male subject apparently staggering throughout the business before returning to his vehicle.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they located the suspect driving a silver Chevrolet Camaro and conducted a traffic stop.
During the investigation deputies noted detecting the odor of alcoholic beverages emitting from the driver identified as, Donnie Allen Smith, age 42, of Manchester, KY.
Deputies also noted that upon the subject exiting the vehicle, he was staggering and struggling to keep his balance. Smith was determined to be under the influence and taken into custody.
Donnie Smith was charged with:
- Operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense
- No operator's license
This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
