TASK FORCE ARREST WANTED SUSPECT, SEIZE DRUGS AND CASH ON KY 552 IN LAUREL CO. AFTER K-9 ALERT

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: On Wednesday afternoon March 26th, 2025 at approximately 1:30 PM, members of Laurel County Drug Interdiction Task Force arrested one individual at a traffic safety checkpoint. 

Laurel county drug interdiction task force 2025 logo 2 20 25 200The arrest occurred on KY 552, approximately 7 miles south of London, after a Laurel County Sheriff’s Office k-9 alerted to the presence of drugs while conducting a walk around on a white Ford F-150 pickup.

A large amount of meth was located under the hood. In addition the driver was determined to be wanted on an outstanding warrant and was operating his vehicle with a suspended operator's license.

Task force investigators arrested the driver identified as, William Harold Clontz age 81 of Spring St., London, KY.

William Clontz was charged with:

  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine
  • Numerous traffic violations

Clontz was also served a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging:

  • Failure to appear in court

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
