DRUG SEIZURE, ARREST OF LONDON, KY MAN AFTER HIGH SPEED PURSUIT

Laurel County Sheriff's narcotics detectives along with Sheriff's General Investigation Detectives in conjunction with DEA arrest subject trafficking meth following pursuit

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: A traffic stop was initiated on a silver Chevrolet Camaro driven by Cody Eugene Deaton on Tuesday night May 13, 2025 at approximately 9:25 PM.

The traffic stop was regarding a drug investigation conducted by Laurel County Sheriff's narcotics detectives along with Sheriff's General investigation detectives in conjunction with DEA.

When detectives and deputies activated their emergency equipment in a business parking lot off Keavy Road in London, the vehicle failed to stop and fled through business parking lots at speeds up to 70 mph driving extremely reckless.

During the pursuit, the driver threw two clear bags of crystal methamphetamine out the window (those bags of meth were recovered by Deputy Zach Strong). Sheriff's investigators and deputies were able to box the vehicle in ending the pursuit, however the driver struggled with deputies and detectives before being taken into custody. Arrested was: Cody Eugene Deaton age 26 of Wildwood Ave., London

Cody Deaton was charged with:

  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine
  • Wanton endangerment – first-degree
  • Resisting arrest
  • Fleeing or evading police – first-degree – motor vehicle
  • Speeding more than 26 mph over the speed limit
  • Reckless driving

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
