MANCHESTER, Ky. — On June 12, 2025, Terry Jones, a 59-year-old resident of Charlie Sizemore Road, was arrested by Manchester Police after allegedly stealing four handmade rocking chairs from the Volunteers of America (VOA) facility on Owens Road and attempting to sell them in a pharmacy drive-thru for $25 each.
According to the Manchester Police Department, officers responded to a theft complaint at the VOA, where four wooden rocking chairs, each valued at $250, were reported stolen. Assistant Chief Antonio Dodson and Officer Jarrod Smith reviewed surveillance footage, which led them to locate Jones behind Express Care Pharmacy. Jones was found with the stolen chairs, actively trying to sell them to customers in the drive-thru lane.
Jones was charged with Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition (TBUT) of property valued between $500 and $1,000, a misdemeanor, and Public Intoxication (Controlled Substance, Excluding Alcohol). Police reported that Jones admitted to the theft and disclosed he had consumed alcohol and taken medication prior to the incident, which may have contributed to his actions.
The arrest took place Thursday morning June 12, 2025, with Officer Jarrod Smith (Badge #106) making the arrest. Jones, described as a 5’7”, 175-pound white male with gray/partially gray hair and hazel eyes, was booked into the Clay County Detention Center at 9:03 AM. Chief Couch also assisted in the investigation.
The stolen rocking chairs were returned to the VOA facility. Jones remains in custody at the Clay County Detention Center, currently no court proceedings are scheduled for the charges.
This bizarre incident has left the Manchester community both amused and relieved, as the quick work of local police ensured the return of the stolen property. For now, the pharmacy drive-thru at Frog Level is back to dispensing prescriptions rather than discount furniture.
