LONDON, KY – Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Drug Interdiction Unit Justin Taylor along with Deputy Cyruss McVey arrested John M. Pursifull, age 42, of Barbourville, KY on Wednesday night July 9, 2025 at approximately 11:30 PM.
The arrest occurred on I–75 in London following a traffic stop conducted on a maroon colored Chevrolet Blazer for traffic violations. During the stop, an occupant in the vehicle was found in possession of suspected methamphetamine. As a result, during the continuing investigation, deputies also located:
- Suspected fentanyl
- Suspected counterfeit Xanax tablets
- Clonazepam
- Drug paraphernalia
John Pursifull is charged with:
- POSS CONT SUB 1ST DEG, 1ST OFF (METHAMPHETAMINE)
- POSS CONT SUB 1ST DEGREE FENTANYL
- POSS OF MARIJUANA
- POSS CONT SUB, 3RD DEGREE - DRUG UNSPECIFIED
- DRUG PARAPHERNALIA - BUY/POSSESS
- PRESCRIPTION CONT SUB NOT PROPER CONTAIN 1ST OFF
