(BALTIMORE, MD) – Two persons have been arrested and charged in connection with shots that were fired this week near the parking lot of a state juvenile facility in Baltimore County.
One suspect is identified as Jermaine A. Conway, 39, of Baltimore, Md. He is charged with first and second degree assault, reckless endangerment, reckless endangerment-discharging a handgun from a vehicle, wearing/carrying a handgun in a vehicle, wearing/carrying a handgun on person, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, restricted firearm in a crime of violence, possession of a firearm after a felony drug conviction, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, illegal possession of ammunition, and possession of a dangerous weapon on school property.
The second suspect is identified as Mia C. Henson, 29, of Baltimore, Md. She is charged with conspiracy to commit first degree assault, conspiracy to commit second degree assault, and conspiracy to commit reckless endangerment.
At about 10:30 p.m. yesterday, Maryland State Police from the Golden Ring Barrack responded to the parking lot of the Charles H. Hickey Jr. School in the 9700 Old Harford Road, Baltimore, for a report of shots fired. Arriving troopers met Andre D. Boyd, 37, of Baltimore, Md., who said he had been walking to the parking lot from the school at the conclusion of his shift, along with Henson and other employees. Boyd stated he saw a Honda Accord parked near the entrance of the school grounds and then saw several flashes and heard numerous sounds similar to gunfire coming from the car. Following the apparent shots, the vehicle left the area.
Troopers learned during the investigation the vehicle belonged to Henson and was driven by her boyfriend, identified as the suspect Conway. Investigators went to Henson’s residence and found both Conway and Henson there. They were taken into custody and later charged. Search warrants were served on their apartment and Henson’s vehicle.
A firearm has not been found. State Police crime scene technicians found multiple shell casings near the area where the car was said to be parked when the shots were fired.
No one in the parking lot of the juvenile facility was struck by the gunfire. State Police investigators do not have a definite motive at this time, but preliminary information indicates it may involve some type of domestic issue between the suspects and Boyd.
