LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: As a result of a drug investigation originating with the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, Kentucky State Police arrested Chester Glenn Couch, age 68 of Typo Road, Bonnyman, KY on Thursday, June 5, 2025.
An undercover drug investigation was conducted by Laurel Sheriff’s Narcotics detectives who teamed up with our law enforcement partners on this case which originated in Laurel County in 2024.
The investigation resulted in a drug search warrant being executed at Couch's address off Typo Road in Bonnyman.
Investigators located:
- Approximately 2,247 prescription pills
- Approximately 120 firearms
- Suspected methamphetamine
- A large amount of U.S. currency
Chester Glenn Couch (left) was charged with:
- 2 counts of trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – opiates
- Trafficking in a controlled substance – third-degree – first offense
- Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine
This individual was lodged in the Kentucky River Regional Jail in Perry County.

Assisting on the investigation for the Laurel County Sheriff's office were: Laurel Sheriff's Detective Bryon Lawson, Detective Jake Miller, Detective Tommy Houston and Capt. Richard Dalrymple.
Also assisting on the investigation were: Hazard Police Department, Kentucky State Police, UNITE, DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency).
The investigation is continuing by Laurel Sheriff's Detective Gary Jordan (Case Officer) with an anticipated presentation before a federal grand jury with this case being presented for their consideration seeking an indictment.
