Accused shoplifter jailed on numerous charges by LSO deputy


Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Deputy Shawn Jackson arrested Heather Abner age 32 Of Kennedy Ave., Corbin on Friday night June 9, 2016 at approximately 10:35 PM.

The arrest occurred at Walmart near Corbin in southern Laurel County after Walmart's loss prevention team detained this subject.

When Deputy Jackson arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation he learned that this subject had allegedly attempted to leave the store without paying for items. In addition, apparently this subject had a small round container in her possession that had numerous pills in it and she attempted to grab the container to try to conceal and dispose of the evidence and stated that she was going to get rid of the pills so she would not get charged with them. The container had Xanax, Suboxone, and Neurotin in it.

Also Deputy Jackson determined that this subject was under the influence – she stated that she had taken Xanax Suboxone and Neurotin.

Heather Abner was charged with theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting; public intoxication – controlled substances; trafficking in a controlled substance – third-degree – first offense; tampering with physical evidence; and possession of a controlled substance – second-degree.

Heather Abner was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
