A Laurel County landlord armed with a pistol ruins burglar's day

Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Deputy Daniel Grigsby along with Sgt. Larry Parrott, Deputy Kyle Gray, and Deputy Brandon Broughton with assistance from Corbin Police Officer Wade Mitchell arrested William Myers age 45 of Campground Rd., Corbin on Sunday night July 24, 2016 at approximately 8:59 PM.

The arrest occurred off Campground road, approximately 9 miles south of London after deputies were dispatched to a complaint that a male subject had attempted to break into the residence of his landlord who lived nearby.

When deputies arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation they learned that a male subject had made entry into his landlord's residence through the back door. The landlord was armed with a pistol and ordered the subject out of his residence.

The subject went back to his own residence where deputies make contact with him. This subject began screaming loudly and cursing and attempted to slam the door on deputies and following a short scuffle with deputies where he kicked Deputy Grigsby, this subject was arrested.

William Myers was charged with burglary – second degree; resisting arrest; assault – third-degree – police officer is victim; disorderly conduct – first degree; and menacing and was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
