Tail light violation results in two arrests - Laurel County

Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Sgt. Larry Parrott arrested two individuals on Adams Road, approximately 10 miles south of London early Tuesday morning August 9, 2016 at approximately 12:05 AM.

The arrests occurred after Sgt. Parrott conducted a traffic stop on a tan colored Honda Accord for tail light violation.

During the traffic stop Sgt. Parrott determined that both the driver and passenger were under the influence. Sgt. Parrott located marijuana, scales, rolling papers, and a glass pipe in possession of the occupants. In addition, as the investigation continued Sgt. Parrott learned that both the driver and passenger were parole violators with outstanding warrants on file.

Arrested was the driver was identified as:

  • Anthony Shoemaker age 32 of Keavy Rd., London charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence – second offense; failure of owner to maintain required insurance – first offense; no registration plates; failure to wear seat belts; possession of a controlled substance; possession of marijuana; possession of drug paraphernalia; possession of open alcoholic beverage container in motor vehicle prohibited; no tail lamps; one headlight; and numerous other traffic violations.

    In addition, this subject was charged on a Kentucky parole violation warrant charging absconding parole supervision; failure to pay court-ordered child support; and failure to report to parole officer as directed regarding convictions in Laurel circuit court on a charge of manufacturing methamphetamine and flagrant nonsupport.

  • The passenger:

  • Rocky Peters age 43 Of Mallard Dr., London charged with public intoxication – controlled substances; possession of marijuana; possession of drug paraphernalia; possession of open alcoholic beverage container in motor vehicle prohibited; disorderly conduct – second degree; and criminal mischief – third-degree. In addition, this subject was charged on a Kentucky parole violation warrant charging absconding parole supervision; and failure to complete halfway house program regarding a conviction in Laurel circuit court on charges of possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine; bail jumping first-degree; and flagrant nonsupport.
  • **The driver and passenger poured Jim beam whiskey over the back seat of the police cruiser.

    These two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
