Multiple charges against man that fled crash scene in Laurel County

Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Deputy Rick Cloyd charged Roger Wilson age 38 of Highway 490, East Bernstadt on Thursday afternoon September 15, 2016 at approximately 4:25 PM.

Deputy Cloyd investigated an injury traffic crash which occurred on West Cumberland Gap Pkwy., approximately 10 miles south of London. Deputy Cloyd reported that apparently this subject was driving a motorcycle and ran into the side of a large white SUV.

This subject fled the scene on foot wearing his helmet and was located a short time later by Deputy Cloyd and taken to an area hospital for treatment of injuries.

Following the investigation, Roger Wilson was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense; leaving the scene of an accident; operating on suspended or revoked operator's license; no registration plates; possession of methamphetamine; and carrying a deadly weapon – this subject had brass knuckles in his possession. He also had a stun gun and hand ax in his possession.

Special Deputy Elizabeth Sparks who was in the area assisted at the scene.

This subject was cited to Laurel District Court due to him being injured and taken to an area hospital for treatment.

His court date is September 30, 2016 at 10:30 AM in Laurel District Court.
