When the rain started, no one could have imagined the devastation that would remain after record flooding wiped out entire areas of eastern Kentucky. Thirty-nine people, including four children, perished. Hundreds, if not thousands, of homes are gone. Schools are unusable and public buildings that have served as community landmarks are destroyed or heavily damaged.

BARBOURVILLE, KY (August 31, 2022) - The Knox County, Sheriff's Department is reporting that: Due to a stabbing incident in the city of Barbourville around noon today, Sheriff Mike Smith, the department's deputies, and school resource officers placed two schools in proximity of the scene on lockdown as a precaution.

ELIZABETHTOWN, KY — The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Electronic Crime Branch arrested David M. Smith, 38, on charges related to child sexual abuse material. Mr. Smith was arrested as the result of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation.
