Obituary for Leola (Garrison) Feltner

Leola Garrison Feltner

Leola Garrison Feltner of Hyden, Kentucky was born April 05, 1923 in Leslie County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Maynard and Martha Garrison.  She was united in marriage to Jim Feltner on February 22, 1945.  Leola was a life-long resident of Hyden, Kentucky.  Leola was the clerk and co-owner of Feltner Shoe Store in Hyden.  She worked along side her husband in the store for more than 60 years, providing the people of Hyden with quality footwear.  She was an avid gardener, and actively gardened until the age of 95.

She enjoyed working with her flowers and was a talented and accomplished seamstress and quilt maker.  Leola was a member of the Rockhouse Baptist Church.  She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend.  Leola passed away peacefully Thursday, November 21, 2019 with her family by her side.  She was 96 years old.

In addition to her parents, Leola was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, James “Jim” Feltner (December 06, 2009), three brothers, Afton, Dwight and Marcus, and one sister, Dexie.

Leola leaves behind one beloved son, Mike Feltner of Hyden, KY, two cherished grandchildren, Sharrie Reynolds and Kristin Morgan, two beloved great-grandchildren: Emma Wilson and Kadence Morgan.  A very special family friend who she loved like family, Lisa Sizemore & Denver Dean, and their son, little Dean Sizemore.  A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive.

Special thanks to her niece, Helen Morgan for the kind care given to her at home and Mollie Sizemore for always watching out for Leola. 

Funeral services will be held at 1p.m. – Sunday at Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Roger Wolfe officiating.  Interment will be held at 1p.m. – Monday at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery – Southeast, where she will be laid to rest with her late husband, Jim.  The family will receive friends for visitation from 12 noon until the funeral hour at 1p.m. – Sunday at the funeral home chapel. 

Arrangements are being handled carefully under the arrangements of Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home.
